Georgia Outdoors at the Wharton Conservation Center

Filming was done recently at the Wharton Conservation Center for an episode of Georgia Outdoors called “A Fight For Frogs.” The episode will air this Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Executive Producer Sharon Collins said “Our focus is on the effort to boost populations of gopher frogs around the state, but I have expanded the story to include the worldwide problem of amphibian declines.”
The Wharton Conservation Center at the headwaters of the Tallulah River is considered to be one of Georgia’s most ecologically significant places. With the help of some of our partner organizations, the Georgia Wildlife Federation is facilitating ecology research at the center through amphibian monitoring projects and documentation of the native plants and wildlife. Here’s a link to a promo for the show on the GPB Facebook page. Tune in!
